The Treasures of Architecture
Espoo is renowned for its significant architecture.
One of the most interesting architectural areas in Espoo is Otaniemi which master plan is made by Alvar Aalto. Aalto is probably the most well-known Finnish architect representing functionalism. He has also designed a dozen of the central buildings, like the main building and the library, in Otaniemi.
Tapiola - "Garden City"- suburbs is a unique and modern area where top architecture meets everyday life. Planning of Tapiola started in 1950's by famous architects like Viljo Revell, Kaija and Heikki Sirén, Veikko Malmio and Aarno Ruusuvuori.
