Recreational Islands
There is a public boat connection to the following islands: Iso Vasikkasaari, Gåsgrund, Stora
Herrö, and Rövaren. Other outer islands are Korkeasaari, Tvihjälp, Knapperskär, Rövargrundet,
Kaparen, and Bylandet.
Many of the islands in Espoo’s sea area have private holiday residences and are thus closed to public recreational use. In addition, some of the islands are in military ownership, and landing on some is prohibited during the nesting season of birds.
In early 2011 Helsinki and Espoo Sports and Excercise Services published a new archipelago guide. The guide contains wide information about the outer islands, in finnish and english Saaristo-opas (PDF) "Guide to the Archipelago".
