Direct Boat Line to Pentala Island

With the Direct Boat Line to Pentala Island, you can reach the island quickly and conveniently from 3 different harbours (Suomenoja, Suinoonsalmi, and Soukka). Pentala Island is known for its iconic lake with another island on it and for its history as home to one Finnish family from 1790 to 1986. Besides that, the island is an idyllic summer day destination with a small Café and the Archipelago Museum Pentala to visit. Note that camping on Pentala Island is not allowed.

Route stops: Suomenoja (Finnoo) →  Suinonsalmi →  Pentala →  Soukka (Klobben) →  Pentala Island →  Suinonsalmi →  Suomenoja (Finnoo)  

The route is operated by Aava Lines Oy, m/s Vallisaari, tel. +358 41 311 7218.

The timetable is valid between 2.6.2026- 30.8.2026 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. 

Note: The route does not operate on Mondays.

Parking & Services in harbours

Suomenoja (Finnoo)

  • There are approximately 40 parking spots in the harbor area.
  • The nearest bus stop is 500m away.
  • Cafés & Restaurants in the area: Café Gabriela

Suinonsalmi: 

  • There are a few parking spots near the harbour, and the parking area with approximately 60 parking spots is located 400m from Hanikka Swimming Beach.
  • The nearest bus stop is located 150 m away from the harbour. A small shop & Café is located 500 m from the harbour area.

Soukka (Klobben): 

  • The harbour area has approximately 70 parking spots.
  • The nearest bus stop is located 850 m from the harbour.

Pricing

Tickets can be purchased when entering the boat. Card payment is recommended. No advance booking available.

Return Tickets to Pentala Island (from Kivenlahti, Ristiniemi, Soukka, Suinonsalmi, and Suomenoja): 

  • Adults 7€ / return ticket
  • Children 3,50€ / return ticket
  • Children under 7 years old travel for free with an adult
  • Free-of-charge with the +68 Sportti wristband (An adult friend of the +68 Sportti wristband holder is also free-of-charge). Note: You must have the Sportti wristband when entering the boat. 

Note: Tickets are purchased directly when entering the boat. Tickets cannot be purchased in advance. Please note that the HSL travel card is not valid on the island boats. Tickets can be paid for by card or in cash. Water bus companies prefer card payments.

Accessibility / Barrier-free information

The boat can be entered with a manual wheelchair, but an assistant is required. Unfortunately, you cannot get on the boat with an electric wheelchair due to its weight. There is no actual ramp to the boat, but an assistant lifts the wheelchair over the threshold. 

Unfortunately, there are no accessible toilets on the boat at the moment.

Direct Lines to Pentala Island can fit on the boat multiple wheelchairs' at the same time.  

Pentala Island is accessible to wheelchair visitors, but it is recommended to have an assistant/non-wheelchair visitor along. On Pentala Island, you can also find accessible toilets.
