Espoo Coast and Archipelago incentive

Peace and scenic marine landscapes in the archipelago create an inspiring atmosphere for incentive trips. Use this sample itinerary to get inspiration for potential activities around our gorgeous archipelago area.

Ideal group size: 20-30

Season: Summer (May-Aug)

But a few marine facts first!

Did you know that Finland's archipelago is the largest in the world? Alone here in Espoo, we have 165 islands, five of which are recreational and reachable by archipelago boats in the summertime. If you want to learn more about the Espoo archipelago's history, head to the archipelago museum on Pentala Island.

In addition to the islands, Espoo boasts 58 km of shoreline, of which the 40 km long Espoo Waterfront Walkway welcomes you to enjoy the marine vibes. Hop on a city bike and get to know the city from a maritime perspective.

Day 1

Arrival to Hanaholmen

Arriving at Espoo and  your hotel, Hanaholmen, located a stone's throw away from Helsinki with the Finnish archipelago just outside the window.

Spacious rooms of Hanaholmen are decorated in Nordic style and are filled with natural light. Each room offers a view of unique maritime nature. In addition to Standard and Superior rooms, the hotel offers two exquisite suites. The total capacity of the hotel is 66 rooms.

Refresh yourself at the sauna and pool area before heading for dinner. Or, if you wish, book your first team-building activity inside or outdoors.

Dinner at rooftop restaurant

Welcome dinner is set at the rooftop restaurant Lucy In the Sky. You can walk along the beach walkway (2 kilometres) or book a group transport.

Lucy serves contemporary bistro food along with a unique view top of the Accountor Tower. The restaurant's glass walls provide views in all directions showcasing the best of the Helsinki region, from diverse urban landscapes to natural parks.

Day 2

Meetings and water sports!

The morning is reserved for the official business program in Hanaholmen's conference facilities. We recommend the relaxed Frank meeting room, where you can go directly to the seaside for fresh air. Lunch will be served at the hotel's restaurant, Plats. If it is a warm and sunny day, lunch with a sea view is served on the terrace.

The afternoon is about watersports and building team spirit at Finland's biggest Watersport centre Laguuni!

At Laguuni, you can spend an active summer day full of water activities and try your wakeboarding, SUP polo, or flyboarding skills. Or how about having fun at the giant floating water park? Book a guided kayaking safari or e-biking tour for your group. And get acquainted with the Finnish sauna experience!

Have a look at the summer vibes from Laguuni in the video.

Sailing and dining

After freshening up at the hotel, we jump aboard a sailboat at Hanaholmen's pier and head to a dinner party with Hiiohoi Oy at one of Espoo's lovely island restaurants.

Hiiohoi operates three seaside venues,  Ruusuniemi, Paven and HERRÖ, each with special features. We will be happy to help you choose your favourite one for your group! A memorable evening is a promise as serving high-quality food made with passion from the season's best ingredients is at the heart of Hiiohois events.

Day 3

Cruising and alcohol smuggling

The last day's programme includes a thematic archipelago cruise with Royal Line to gorgeous Suvisaaristo. You can admire the scenery from the sundeck while enjoying refreshing beverages and lunch.

In addition to beautiful landscapes, the Espoo archipelago offers an exciting history. Did you know that the sale, possession and use of alcohol were prohibited in Finland when the Prohibition Act entered into force in 1919? However, during the Prohibition Act, Espoo's coast offered great opportunities for alcohol smuggling.

Controlling the archipelago was difficult, as the coastline was long and offered many good hiding places for liquor cargoes. Experienced seafarers also knew the sea lanes better than the official authorities. In the 1920s, we saw chases, confiscations and many human destinies. Royal Line's Smuggler's Espoo thematic cruise takes you to these authentic event places to hear stories about the lives of islanders and smugglers.
