How to arrive and get around Espoo
Whether you arrive by plane to Helsinki Airport or by ferry to one of Helsinki ports, you can reach Espoo conveniently within 15-30 minutes by public transportation as well as with your own or rental car or taxi. Espoo is well connected with Helsinki capital by highways, metro, light rail, local train, and CityBikes.
When is the best time for families to visit Espoo?
All year round!
During the winter season, families with children can enjoy from ski lessons in alpine and cross-country skiing, sledding hills, snowshoeing hikes, and winter picnics to indoor activities such as visiting and playing through interactive exhibitions in one of Espoo's museums.
Spring season is perfect for visiting petting farms, outdoor picnics, museums, day trips to Nuuksio National Park, or exploring playgrounds along the Espoo Waterfront Walkway.
Long days during the summer season are inviting for exploring 5 local islands accessible by scheduled public boat, having summer adventures in Huippu Adventure Park or Water Sports Centre Laguuni, or exploring sandy beaches by both the Baltic Sea or one of 95 lakes located in Espoo.
Autumn brings the beautiful autumn foliage, which is best enjoyed outdoors. Families can join mushroom- and berry-picking guided tours, as well as outdoor cooking, or just relax in one of the family-friendly spa hotels.
